Since I get difficulties in finding journal about classroom action research related to critical reading strategy, I use this journal because of the topic is in line with my future study.
After I read this journal I learn that critical reading strategy is the suitable strategy to improve students’ reading comprehension. This study used experimental as the methodology and the aim of this study is to investigate the effect of critical reading strategy in the students’ reading comprehension. The researcher chooses 60 Iranian students and divides them into two groups, those are the experimental and the control group. The group which taught using critical reading strategy is the experimental group and the control group is taught using an existing technique.
However, English in Indonesia and Iran is the foreign language, the problems faced by those two countries almost same. In reading a text the students are lack of awareness. They usually check word by word to know the meaning of a sentence. Actually, using that strategy is not effective to make the students comprehend in reading a text. That is why the researcher uses this strategy to teach reading. After taught using this strategy the experimental group is asked to make a short summary related to that text. it is used to improve the students’ reading comprehension in reading a text.
In the findings, the researcher stated that this strategy is not only to improve the students’ reading comprehension, but it improves the students’ attitude in joining the reading class.
For my future classroom, I will use the same strategy with this study, but I will use different methodology. I prefer to choose classroom action research rather than experimental study. Since this strategy gives benefits for my future classroom and it almost same with my future thesis there is no reason to not use it.
